'Woolovers'
Ongoing Project

A fabulous, explorative, intergenerational project. Drawing from the heritage of our illustrious wool and textile industry in Huddersfield & the Holme and Colne Valley. Funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund.

We are working with a number of textile crafts and techniques.

Bringing to life a scene from the story of Gulliver's travels to visually represent our pinnacle figure, Sir John Ramsden (1699-1769) and the threads that bind him to our local area, its people and landscape.

While learning, teaching, and passing on different textile techniques. Exploring older techniques such as weaving and felting as well as far newer techniques like yarn bombing to collectively piece together our imaginative scene.

We are working with Bridgewood, Trust,Enfield Down,

Hepworth Junior & Infant School, South Crosland Junior School and Upperthong Junior & Infant School.

WHO WE ARE

Our Aim

Our aim is to bring people together, to share their memories with each other and with the wider community.  We use these shared memories as a basis for creating high quality art works. With the support of three artists, Sharing Memories group works with local schools and other community groups on a range of projects which serve to both celebrate and interpret our lives.
